What is Tenugui Towel ?
“Tenugui” means “Wiping the hands” in Japanese. Just as it originally means, we use Tenugui Towel to wipe our hands and body.
We also wear it on our head to protect from dust and the sunlight. The size varies depending on time. Kamawanu Tenugui size is approximately 33 cm X 90 cm.
It is made of cotton, and dyed by craftsmen using “Chusen”, a resist-dyeing method. Tenugui is basically just a piece of cotton fabric, but it can express the season.
